My Journey to Creating AIx45

From Fear & Overwhelm to AI-Empowered

Late in my first year of stepping out of a 20+ year career in education to run Silver Penned Writing Studio, ChatGPT was released to the general public. I quickly realized that if I didn't learn to use this technology, my writing skills could become redundant. No one would pay for professional writing if they could get the same caliber outputs from AI. 

So, I made it my mission to leverage my existing skill set in writing, storytelling, marketing, and instructional design to double down on learning the art and science of prompt engineering.

I quickly discovered that the quality of AI outputs directly correlates with the quality of the prompts. Determined to master this new tool, I focused on AI mastery to support my clients—small service-based businesses, high schools, and large educational institutions—in upskilling their AI engagement.

My goal was to eliminate the fear and overwhelm surrounding effective AI usage: the most important skill of the next decade.

However, after encountering multiple 'red tape' roadblocks with educational institutions, I realized it was best to go directly to the source: the students. I wanted to teach those hungry to learn the skills they need for a future that is yet to exist. 

It helped that my three stepchildren were all studying at various tertiary institutions in different fields. I got them to road test the applicability of my initial iterations of AIx45, adapting and tweaking the program to ensure that, no matter what students are studying or where they are in their academic journey, the skills are equally applicable.

Here Were the Outcomes I Wanted

I aspired to achieve three main outcomes:
